About WRASAI Uganda
Vision
A world where every woman and girl in Uganda has access to safe, sustainable, and equitable WASH services and the knowledge and resources needed for effective Menstrual Hygiene Management, enabling them to live with dignity and reach their full potential.
Mission
To improve the quality of life for women and girls in Uganda through advocacy, education, and sustainable solutions in WASH and MHM. We strive to create an environment where women can lead and participate fully in their communities.
Objectives
- To increase access to safe and clean drinking water, sanitation facilities and promote hygiene in underserved communities.
- To promote environmentally sustainable practices and community ownership of WASH projects.
- To promote women’s rights and gender equality through public campaigns, policy, and advocacy.
- To provide educational programs, vocational trainings, and leadership development to enhance the skills and knowledge of women.
- To facilitate access to micro-finance, entrepreneurship training, and employment opportunities to improve women’s economic independence.
Specific Tasks
Advocacy and Awareness
- Promote women's rights and gender equality through public campaigns, policy advocacy, and legal support.
- Raise awareness about the importance of WASH and MHM, advocating for policy changes and increased investment in these areas.
- Offer counselling, legal aid, and support networks for women facing discrimination, violence, and other challenges.
Education and Training
- Provide educational programs, vocational training, and leadership development to enhance the skills and knowledge of women.
- Provide education and training programs on hygiene practices, menstrual health, and sustainable WASH solutions.
- Offer health education, reproductive health services, and mental health support.
Economic Empowerment
- Facilitate access to micro-finance, entrepreneurship training, and employment opportunities to improve women's economic independence.
- Establish micro-finance programs to support women entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Infrastructure Development
- Partner with communities to develop and maintain WASH infrastructure, ensuring access to clean water and safe sanitation facilities.
Community Engagement
- Foster community involvement and collaboration to create a supportive environment for women's empowerment.
- Foster community-led initiatives and support local leaders in promoting hygiene and health practices.
Research and Innovation
- Provide educational programs, vocational training, and leadership development to enhance the skills and knowledge of women.
- Conduct research to identify barriers and develop innovative solutions for WASH and MHM challenges.
Partnerships and Collaboration
- Build partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations, private sector, and international agencies to enhance our impact.
- Work with government bodies to influence policy and ensure the enforcement of women's rights.
- Collaborate with other organizations to amplify impact and share resources.
- Engage with businesses to support women's economic empowerment and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
- Collaborate with academic institutions to leverage resources, share expertise, and amplify impact.
